Tuesday, 25 October 2011 - Talk No. 3

this is primarily for people who can understand Nepali, but for those who think I've just been sipping cappuccinos, playing dress-ups and generally bludging in the Himalaya for the last 8 months...here's the proof!  Slowly but surely this little Nepali head* is growing...

The talk was based on Romans 1:20.

I was struck with brain freeze several times at the prospect of discussing evolution in Nepali.  In my despair at the influence of bigoted intellectuals on society, I even started having flash backs to the Jack Black film, 'Nacho Libre':

'you only believe in science!  That's probably why we never win!'

I then proceeded to make Ritsu watch it with me.  I can't say it helped my talk greatly, but my spirits improved considerably, as did Ritsu's Mexican accent...

What I did gain from this assignment is a nifty illustration for the rare occasions when we meet atheists in the ministry.

Could this just be a product of chance?  Nay!  There must be a dijaainar designer^!  (Hebrews 3:4)

* I'm stealing a reference my didi shared with me when she started learning Italian:
"Learning a new language is like growing a new head"
FYI my Nepali head is currently the size of a literate 3 year old
^ 'dii-jaai-naar' - Too funny I came across this word in the Nepali WT and COULD NOT find it in any dictionary...(I looked up three!).  I then read it to myself out loud very slowly and realised it was just English...Now that I've added it to my Nepali vocabulary, I'm determined to use it as much as I can!  'Hey are those jeans diijaainaar???'
